From brief to silk

Our autumn capsule was drawn over four months by an illustrator we have followed for years. We gave her one word - "shelter" - and she came back with a whole quiet world of botanical shapes, oak leaves half-turned, the underside of a hedge in November.

This piece is a short interview about how that brief became four scarves and one wrap.

THE PROCESS

Ink, then silk

Every print begins as an ink drawing at scale. From there it moves to a digital plate, then to a small run of test squares on cotton, then finally to silk twill. We refuse a print if it does not sit right on the twill weave.
